This year we are featuring the works of two local artists at the B&B.
Grace Tyler
It was 1975 when Grace Tyler began exploring a talent she knew she had, but with a young family and a full time job, there was little time to pursue her passion for painting, so she put away her brushes and paints until 2000. It was at that point in her life, she was semi-retired and had always loved creating and maintaining a beautiful garden, which for her was just another form of art, playing with textures and seeing the many shades of color that nature has to offer, Grace was ready to start painting again. Her topics being mainly landscapes and flora, painting has become very therapeutic for her. She is able to express herself, be grounded and just tune out the world.Although Grace has participated in workshops with James Picard, Dean Croft and just recently with Terry Isaac, she prides herself in saying she is a self taught realist leaning towards an impressionist in some of her work. Grace was a member of the North Shore Artist Guild, Seymour Art Gallery and the North Vancouver Community Arts before moving to Creston in 2009. She is now a member of the Creston Art Club. It took some time for Grace to have less fear around showing and selling her art, but this has come from the experiences she learned from other more established artist and not.Artist’s StatementKnowing someone has appreciated and loved the work that I do and displays my art in their space, gives me a feeling that I am connected somehow to this person. This for me is the best gift. As I go on this journey of life, I will continue to learn and grow in my art.Carol Schloss
