Welcome!

We are now in our third year of running Goat River Bed and Breakfast and are enjoying sharing our bit of paradise with both new and familiar faces. We have welcomed guests not only from all over Canada, but from all over the world and would like to thank all our new friends for the good times, great conversations, and successful cherry seasons. We hope you join us again this year.

The last three years have brought with them a lot of changes to both our home and business. We have welcomed to our world our little girl Isabella, and to our farm four little pygmy goats and a bunny. Improvements to the house and acreage are continuing on a daily basis and we hope to make remodelling the swimming pool area our next big project. We are also continually looking for more local products we can introduce into our daily operations, and have branched out into a gift basket business featuring such items.

Please visit our site often as we update it with posts and photos, and try to relate what it has been like to start and run a Bed and Breakfast in the beautiful Creston Valley.

We look forward to having you stay with us.

Art at the Goat River

This year we are featuring the works of two local artists at the B&B.

Grace Tyler

It was 1975 when Grace Tyler began exploring a talent she knew she had, but with a young family and a full time job, there was little time to pursue her passion for painting, so she put away her brushes and paints until 2000. It was at that point in her life, she was semi-retired and had always loved creating and maintaining a beautiful garden, which for her was just another form of art, playing with textures and seeing the many shades of color that nature has to offer, Grace was ready to start painting again. Her topics being mainly landscapes and flora, painting has become very therapeutic for her. She is able to express herself, be grounded and just tune out the world.Although Grace has participated in workshops with James Picard, Dean Croft and just recently with Terry Isaac, she prides herself in saying she is a self taught realist leaning towards an impressionist in some of her work. Grace was a member of the North Shore Artist Guild, Seymour Art Gallery and the North Vancouver Community Arts before moving to Creston in 2009. She is now a member of the Creston Art Club. It took some time for Grace to have less fear around showing and selling her art, but this has come from the experiences she learned from other more established artist and not.Artist’s StatementKnowing someone has appreciated and loved the work that I do and displays my art in their space, gives me a feeling that I am connected somehow to this person.  This for me is the best gift. As I go on this journey of life, I will continue to learn and grow in my art.Carol Schloss

Carol Schloss is a Signature Member of the prestigious Pastel Society of America in New York.

Over 30 years in Philadelphia as a Graphic Designer/Art Director and a 5-year Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the Cleveland Institute of Art has honed and refined her sense of composition, pattern and color. A decade of working with pastels’ marvelously pure colors has launched her into the fine arts. Considered a fine draftsman, her drawing skills combine with a bold use of color and light, maximizing the strength of this media.

Now relocated to British Columbia after 10 years in the American West, an enthusiasm for all things wild and natural brings her artwork to life with a sparkle. Winner of numerous top awards, her pastels are owned by individuals and collectors across North America. Her work has been widely exhibited, most recently at The Butler Institute of American Art and The Eastern Shore Art Association’s 40th Anniversary Pastel Exhibition. The Tutt Street Art Galleries in Kelowna, BC now represent her paintings. Work can also be seen at the Painted Turtle Gallery in Creston, BC, and Big Horn Print Gallery in Cody, WY.
